There's something I need to explain about Final Destination 5. There's no way Final Destination 5 is a prequel to Final Destination 1. Even if it was a prequel after all. But Final Destination 5 must had been took place in the present 2011 1 year after the event of The Final Destination.

 On the surface I think we can discount that Final Destination 5 being a prequel to Final Destination 1. If we take a closer look at the scene, we see a few things that will indicate that Final Destination 5 take place after The Final Destination and set in present/modern day. 

When Molly, Sam, Nathan, and Peter met William Bludworth after Isaac Palmer's death at the Spa. William Bludworth's bald head is the same one from Final Destination 2 indicating that it took place after the 2nd film so his hair hadn't grown all over the past year since it was bald. Strange, eh? 

The cell phone that Isaac Palmer is talking on is a Motorola StarTAC which was released in 1996. Those Motorola StarTAC are still around in our present day: 2015. They probably sell it at Antique/Retro Fashion Store where you can buy old stuffs. So I'm assuming Isaac got it at a Antique/Retro Fashion Store since he doesn't want a futuristic/Modern smart phone like the people does. Same as Agent Jim Block. He got a Motorola StarTAC like Isaac. in real life my Grandmother still kept her old Motorola StarTAC cell phone because she thought it was cool and doesn't even want a new smart phone at all. She had it since 1999. So that's possible.

William Bludworth mention that he've seen this before prior to Final Destination 5. He was actually referring to the first 4 disasters that occurred in Final Destination 1,2,3, and 4. He must had been keeping tracks of these incidents all over the years. 

When Olivia Castle accidentally knocked over her picture frame, it showed a picture of her and her friend at the McKinley Amusement Park Devil's Flight. This can means that Olivia was at the amusement park where Final Destination 3 took place in 2005 just 6 years before the start of Final Destination 5 in the year of 2011. So Olivia wasn't a Presage Paper Employee at that time. She was probably a high school student in her high school year. This explained why Olivia didn't mention about the Devil's Flight Roller Coaster Accident because she probably doesn't talk about it that much but she was aware about the incident though. That's possible. 

Those cars in the background look more futuristic than old fashion cars from 1990s. Though we still had old fashion car in real life in present day: 2015. Because we took care of our old fashion cars in good condition. So I think those old fashion cars were still around in the present: 2011 when Final Destination 5 took place. Old Fashion Cars and Futuristic/Modern Cars can co-existed together. That's Possible.

The music that we hear in the background such as Dust in the Wind by Kansas. Those old music are still around in real life. For instance I listened to "I Want It That Way" by the Backstreet Boys on the radio on my Dad's 2004 Toyota Sienna LE. That song is still around. The song was released in 1999. So they can still plays old songs from the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. Old and new songs can be still play at the same time during modern day. So that song "Dust in the Wind" was still playing around at that time in Present Day: 2011 when Final Destination 5 took place. Dust in the Wind was released in 1977. That's possible.

the clothes that the people are wearing look more modern clothes than old fashion clothes. In fact old fashion clothes are not even around no more in these day. We now had Modern Clothes in the year 2015. So those modern clothes are from 2011 when Final Destination 5 took place.

So Final Destination 5 gotta take place after the Final Destination. Hope that explained it.
