I stand on sand banks
the waves crash towards me from the rolling distance
and the river to my side rushes towards the sea
it’s a blur of movement, gushing all around me
but I stand, I’m okay.
The water splashes and runs close to my feet,
washing away the very sand I stand on
I should be anxious but I know I’m safe
and I’m okay with that.
And the waves roar and the birds call and the rock grinds underfoot
even so, I can bear the noise now
sunlight glistens down in what should be
painfully bright waves
it bounces and shines from the water top to my eyes
and I can appreciate it’s beauty instead of letting it hurt
